open thread (2024 March)

Inspired by Olivia’s open thread last month, I’m repeating to perhaps start a tradition of monthly(?) links. I invite more. MORE!

Here are the lovely layers of Dahana (dahanadcr on Instagram).

Kim Gordon’s “I’m a Man” makes me want to wear your clothes.

    1. Ok, this is amazing. I've only watched the first fifteen minutes and I'm completely hooked. I was in high school when Twilight came out. My girlfriends and I read the series and attended all of the midnight book releases together. We were obsessed. Over the years, I've become very critical of the series though I've never been able to bring myself to getting rid of my books. They have been with me through countless moves from apartment to apartment. Thank you for sharing this, I'm looking forward to watching the rest this week!

    2. I read the Twilight books around the time when the first movie came out (2008). I was working in finance during the height of that financial crisis. My entire department read them together, involving a lot of book borrowing, and we cried a lot in those days. Each of us was unsure about the world and our jobs. In the first book of the series, I remember coming across many typos and spelling mistakes that I desperately wanted to highlight, but I couldn’t because I was borrowing a copy. I later purchased my own, and either the mistakes were corrected, or they were never there. I may have just needed to manufacture things to correct in an uncertain time.
